Srinagar, July 13 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation today produced a charge-sheet against an executive engineer for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A vigilance spokesman said the charge-sheet was filed in the court of the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir, against Mohammad Shafi Chiken, the then executive engineer, Roads and Buildings Division, Qazigund for acquiring assets by indulging in corrupt practices.

He said a case was registered on June 17, 2004 following an inquiry by the vigilance organisation. It was found that Chiken had amassed huge assets such as a house in Anantnag, bank shares and LIC policies besides incurring huge expenditure on his daughter's education in a private medical college at Bangalore.

During investigations, it was established that the accused had the salary as his sole source of income. He had acquired property and incurred expenditure worth Rs 37.60 lakh between 1993 to 2004.

However, his total income from all legal sources was calculated to be at Rs 13.58 lakh only, the spokesman added.

He said the accused had already retired from the government service and as such no sanction was required for his prosecution.
