Jaiswal seeks exemption from power cuts for Kanpur
Lucknow, July 13 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal today demanded exemption from power rostering for Kanpur.
In a meeting with Chief Minister Mayawati, Mr Jaiswal said since Kanpur was the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh, it should be exempted from power cuts, which are proving to be problem for the industries located there.
''If Lucknow can be exempted, then so can Kanpur as while Lucknow is the political capital, Kanpur is the industrial capital of the state,'' he told reporters.
Mr Jaiswal represents Kanpur in the Lok Sabha.
The Union Minister also requested the Chief Minister to forward a plan to the Union Government to construct a link road between Unnao and Panki (in Kanpur) to reduce the traffic of commercial vehicles in the industrial city. ''The money would be provided by the Union Ministry of Surface Transport through the Central Road Fund (CRF).
The state government will only have to send a proposal,'' he said.
