Cabinet clears six bills, prepares for Monsoon session

Hyderabad, July 13 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet today chalked out its strategy to effectively counter the opposition onslaught during the Monsoon session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature beginning on July 16.

A Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, gave its approval for introducing bills to replace six ordinances, including the ones to provide four per cent reservation for Muslims and ban other religion propagation in select places of worship including Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, official sources said.

Dividing his cabinet colleagues into two teams to attend the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, the Chief Minister asked them to come prepared to answer all questions and issues that would be raised by the Opposition during the Legislature session to be held coinciding with the Presidential elections.

Bills to replace the Andhra Pradesh Cotton Seeds (regulation of supply, distribution, sale and fixation of sale price) Ordinance as also Andhra Pradesh Payment of Salaries and Pension and Removal of Disqualification (two amendments) Ordinance would be introduced.

In an effort to protect the interest of cotton growers, the Government decided to enact a state law after the Centre excluded cotton from the purview of the essential Commodities Act, the sources added.
