Boating facilities stopped in bird sanctuary

Mysore, July 13 (UNI) The forest department officials of the famous Ranganathittu Bird Sanctunary near here today ordered stoppage of the boating facility following heavy discharge from the K R Sagar Reservoir across Cauvery river since last night.

Official sources said that even though the birds in the sanctuary had not been affected due to swollen river, water had inundated the boating area.

Tourists were allowed to visit the sanctuary but were disappointed as there was no boating which would have given them glimpse of their favourite birds and their nestling from close range.
