2,494 pilgrims leave for Amarnath in 12th batch

Jammu, July 13: The 12th batch of 2,492 pilgrims left Jammu base camp for Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas this morning, official sources said.

An 81 vehicles convoy carrying 1,713 men, 518 women, 65 children and 198 sadhus left for Nunwan and Baltal yatra camps at 0520 hrs, sources said.

With this, a total 23,436 pilgrims have taken up Shri Amarnath pilgrimage officially from yatra base came here at the MA Stadium since the commencement of yatra on July 2.

Bad weather conditions in Kashmir keep making the yatra inconvenient as rains and landslides en route the cave shrine make the track slippery and risky.
