Two held during raids at SP leader's relatives

Hardoi, July 12 (UNI) Police conducted raids at the residence of relatives of senior Samajwadi Party(SP) leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Naresh Agarwal.

A team led by Superintendent of Police Rajkumar raided the residence and hotel of the SP leader's kin Achal Agarwal, late yesterday.

During the search operation, former controversial student leader Padam Singh, booked under Gangster Act, and his aide were arrested.

The cops seized a rifle after it conducted raids at the house of Mr Agarwal's relatives and Hardoi Panchayat Udyog president Shishupal Singh, his brother and Zila Panchayat member Raja Baksh Singh.

Liquor trader Sanjay Gupta's residence was raided and 11 illicit liquor chests were seized from the spot. Mr Gupta is also said to be a close confident of the SP leader, police added.
