Sify, Microsoft pact to bridge digital divide
Chennai, July 12 (UNI) Leading internet service provider Sify Ltd will work with Microsoft India to empower Indians with internet and IT service and help bridge the digital divide.
Sify would partner Microsoft to enable easy access for Microsoft's initiatives through its over 3,500 strong 'I-way' cyber cafe chain, as well as through its home internet access service, a company statement here today said.
Sify would offer its cyber cafe subscriber access to licensed Microsoft office software, so that they can use the cafe as a virtual office for their needs.
This would also include providing training in MS office to increase their productivity and skills.
Sify was also supporting Microsoft in bringing the industry together for the path-breaking 'IQ-PC' initative.
The PC for families with school going children, would include 100 hours of free internet access.
The alliance would also include other Microsoft certification programmes, affordable utility computing for the middle class and content for online education through the Sify 'I-way' cafe chain, the statement added.
