Hardcore militant nabbed

Imphal, July 12 (UNI) Imphal West District Police have arrested a cadre of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak(PREPAK) from Uripok on Wednesday.

The SP of Imphal West District Clay Khongsai said the cadre was holding the rank of lance corporal and was identified as Nahakpam Yaima. The SP said on preliminary interrogation, Yaima disclosed that he had joined PREPAK as 2nd Lt Jamson in 2003 and got basic military training at Chandel, Manipur, as the 14th batch and was working in finance section of the PREPAK under the command of 2nd Lt Jamson, district commander of Imphal West. He was assigned to collect huge amount of money from petrol pumps, cinema halls, businessmen, gas agencies among others for party fund.

He further disclosed that he was involved in firing at Abdul Salam's residence. Mr Salam was the MLA of Hiyanglam last year.

A .32 pistol with three live rounds and one Chinese hand grenade were seized from his possession, the SP informed.

Meanwhile, the PREPAK had offered revolutionary salutes to Leishangthem Kanto of Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal, who was shot dead by Police Commandos at Tera, Imphal on July 7 night.
