'Ford and Tata Motors in clandestine deal for Singur'
Kolkata, Jul 12: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee todayalleged that the Tata Motors had secretly tied up with the foreignmotor manufacturer Ford Company for the Singur project.
Addressing a rally, organised by the AITTCC, party's trade wing,Ms Banerjee charged the CPI(M) with taking "cut money" from the smallcar project.
"I met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi and told him thataccording to the Right to Information Act everybody has the right toknow the details of the deal between the state government and the TataMotors. But the ruling Front refused to furnish the details, saying itwas a secret matter," Ms Banerjee said.
"I am of firm view that a clandestine deal has been hammeredbetween Ford and Tata Motors for the project and the CPI(M) was takingcut money," she stated.
She said, "We are not against industrialisation but opposing theinjustice meted out to the farmers by the CPI(M)-led government forforcibly acquiring agricultural land. We are in favour ofglobalisation, which means development, but the ruling Front ismisusing it," Ms Banerjee said.
