Cong preparing for opposition onslaught

Hyderabad, July 12 (UNI) The ruling Congress is preparing itself for opposition onslaught during the Monsoon Session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature, which will see introduction of Bills to replace six ordinances, including the ones to provide four per cent reservation for Muslims.

Governor Rameshwar Thakur today issued a notification summoning the Legislative Council to meet for its second Session from July 17.

Holding a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues and senior officials for the Monsoon Session, coinciding with the Presidential elections, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said, ''all of us should be on our toes and be prepared to answer all questions and issues that will be raised by the Opposition.'' Anticipating that the Opposition might raise land related issues, he asked the officials concerned to be prepared for a short notice discussion on the same.

The Chief Minister was particular that all questions raised during Zero Hour should invariably be answered and replies be sent to members concerned within three to four days, an official release said.

''Don't wait till last minute but furnish all information as may be needed to Ministers at the earliest, along with authentic translated versions both in Telugu and Urdu and ensure that senior official attend the Assembly to the possible extent''.

The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (amendment) Ordinance, the Andhra Pradesh Cotton Seeds (regulation of supply, distribution, sale and fixation of sale price) Ordinance and the Andhra Pradesh Payment of Salaries and Pension and Removal of Disqualification (amendment) Ordinance will be replaced by Bills.
