8 killers slapped life term

Etawah, July 11 (UNI) A local court today sentenced eight persons to life imprisonment in a murder case here.

One of the eight convicted is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.

In a daylight murder on June 3, 2004, Yuwa Vyapar Mandal leader Mohd Shahid was bludgeoned to death over a dispute near Ramganj square in Kotwali area.

Later, an FIR was lodged against BJP leader Girish Soni, Kuldeep Soni, Raju, Jitendra, Bantu, Rakesh, Dharmendra Soni, Arvind alias Kunti.

On the basis of evidence and testimony, local court judge P P Tiwari convicted the accused, besides imposing a penalty of Rs 5,000.
