Red alert sounded along AP-Ch'garh-Orissa border
Hyderabad, July 11: The Andhra Pradesh police today tightened security along the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh-Orissa border areas following the killing of 20 policemen in the gun battle between police and Maoists at Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh yesterday.
Police sources said additional forces were deployed on the border areas of Chhattisgarh and search operation launched to prevent Maoists infiltration in the state.
Police were also patrolling in the sensitive Chintoor, Charla, Venkatapuram and Vajedu villages in Khammam district.
Coordination between the Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has been intensified to keep a track on the movements of the extremists.
Special police teams were conducting combing operations in the forest areas of Srikakulam district on the AP-Orissa border.
