Rajasthan assessing flood damage

Jaipur, July 11(UNI) Rajasthan government is assessing the losses incurred due to flood fury in the state where 28 lives have been lost in the rain related incidents here till now.

Rajasthan PWD Minister and cabinet spokesman Rajendra Singh Rathore said the state government was preparing a detailed report of the losses incurred due to floods, to be presented to the central government.

He said 21 districts in the state had received 60 per cent above normal rain this season leading to flood like situation while nine districts had reported 20-60 per cent excess rain. Normal rain was recorded only in two districts.

The minister said 16 dams were breached in the flood fury and 28 flood related deaths had been reported in the state till date.

Refuting Union Minister Sri Prakash Jaisawal's claim of liberal central assistance to Rajasthan last year as flood relief, the Minister said the aid has remained just five crore. He charged the central minister with spreading falsehood.
