''Not aware''of detentions in Thailand over failed London bombing

Bangkok, July 11 (UNI) The British embassy here today said it had no knowledge of anyone being detained or deported from Thailand in connection with last month's abortive terror strikes in the United Kingdom.

Senior Thai police officials were quoted as saying in news reports today that a British national of Pakistani origin had been detained and questioned here in connection with the June end car bomb plot in London.

The man who was in Thailand on holiday was allowed to go as he was not on the international watch list of terror suspects, Thai police said.

A British Foreign Office spokesman at the British embassy here told UNI that the embassy was not aware of any such detentions.

We are not aware of any arrests in or deportations from Thailand connected with the recent failed London bombings, he said.
