Nagaland dismisses Assam police's claim
Kohima, July 11: Nagaland Government has dismissed claims of Assam police that the miscreants involved in the Julys incident at Geleki sector were Nagas.
According to official sources here today the Assam police had submitted a list of ten people, who were allegedly involved in the Geleki area incident. However, they claimed that there are no residents in Anaki 'C' village by the names of the 10 people submitted by the Assam police. Sources said that the Sub-Divisional Police Officer(SDPO) of Mokokchung had personally visited Anaki 'C' village to verify the names and that it was found to have been bogus.
"No one by those names ever lived in Anaki 'C' village," sources said. The SDPO is reportedly camping in the village to oversee the situation in the wake of threat issued by Assam government to cross the border into Nagaland.
Meanwhile,Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries yesterday (before lifting the blockade) appealed to the people of Mokokchung not to panic due to the economic blockade imposed by Assam.
It made it clear that Nagas can survive even if the economic blockade imposed by the Assam-based organizations, continue indefinitely.
