Mahakumbabishekam performed in Swetharanyeswarar temple

Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu July 11 (UNI) Hundreds of devotees from various parts of the state thronged the lord Swetharanyeswarar temple to witness the Mahakumbabishekam at Thiruvengadu village near Sirkazhi in this district today.

The famous temple, one of the important Navagraha Khetras and a pilgrimage centre for Planet Bhudhan (Mercury), was renovated at a cost of several lakhs of rupees, recently.

The preliminary yahasala poojas and other rituals in connection with the Kumbabishekam commenced on June eight.

Vedic pandits poured holy waters brought from various sacred rivers in the country on the temple Kalasams at the auspicious timings between 0930 to 1030 hrs, amid chanting of vedic hymns from the holy scriptures.

The Nagapattinam district administration declared a local holiday, today for all the government offices and educational institutions in view of the Mahakumbabkishekam.

The Temple administration in coordination with the Police has made elaborate arrangements to regulate the surge of devotees.
