Three new schemes from United India
Chennai, July 10: Leading insurance service provider, United India Insurance Company will launch three new health insurance schemes Platinum, Gold and Senior Citizens, today.
The new schemes, to be administered through third party administrators temporarily, would replace the existing Mediclaim policy, the company said in a release here.
The 'Platinum Category' would include people in an age group of three months to 35 years, 'the Gold Category' for 36-60 age group and the Senior Citizens for 61-80.
These products would encourage youths to buy health insurance policies to take advantage of covering pre-existing illness, an usual exclusion under other health policies. The cover for senior citizens was a unique offer with a coverage upto 80 years.
Minimum sum insured for all the three polices was Rs 50,000 and would be increased in multiples of Rs 25,000.
The maximum sum insured for Platinum, Gold and Senior Citizens would be Rs ten lakh, Rs five lakh and Rs three lakh respectively.
The greatest advantage of choosing the Platinum scheme at the early ages was that the pre-existing diseases exclusion stand deleted.
However, the exclusion in the Gold and Senior Citizens schemes would lapse once the insured completed three claim free periods.
The insured would be entitled to a free health check-up at the expiry of a block of every three consecutive claim-free years.
