No rain, mercury elevates

Kolkata, Jul 10 (UNI) After being inundated for days due to incessant rains, the city today experienced a hot day with increased mercury levels.

According to Alipore Met department, maximum temperature was recorded as high as 35.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum stood at 28 degrees Celsius.

Maximum humidity was measured at 92 per cent and the minimum was as low as 53 per cent, the officials added.

Rainfall was almost nil while the sky remained partly overcast.

However the Met department have predicted partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder showers in the next 24 hours in the city and suburbs.
