Leopard scare for Asom MLAs

Guwahati, July 10 (UNI) A leopard were the main gate of Asom Assembly today created panic among the MLAs forcing them to take an alternative route.

The leopard was spotted sitting on a tree near the forecourt of Dispur police station this morning.

The efforts of the police and forest officials went in vain as the canine refused to move the whole day.

''The leopard is resting on such a height that we can not reach out to him. Tranquilisers are also of no use as the animal may fall and die. It's a very difficult situation,'' State Zoo DFO Narayan Chandra Mahanta said.

However, the police has kept the vigil throughout the day hoping that by night it would move away to the nearby hills.

The presence of this creature has also created a lot of amusement among the local people.
