K'taka to set up Anti-terrorist squad
Bangalore, July 10 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today informed the Legislative Assembly that the State Government will set up a separate anti-terrorist squad as the terrorist outfits were centralising their actitivities in the city.
Replying to a question raised by Mr Vatal Nagaraj (Vatal Kannada Cheluvali Paksha) during Zero Hour, he said a proposal to this effect was conceived three months ago and was waiting for approval from the Finance Department.
He said the squad would be set up on the lines of Mumbai model with a full time job to root out militant activities in the city.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister B S Yediyurappa had agreed to sanction the funds for setting up of the squad, he said.
He said the state government had taken a series of measures including data collection on the terrorist activities in the city.
