HC starts new chapter in Judiciary and IT

Allahabad, July 10 (UNI) A new chapter in Judiciary and Information Technology has started in Allahabad High Court with the inauguration of an official website and launching of e-court project.

Though the website of the HC 'www.allahabadhighcourt.in had been functional for sometime, it was inaugurated by Chief Justice H L Gokhale at a function here last night. The e-court project was also started by him with the launching of national e-court project in New Delhi by President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.

Two judicial officers -- District Judge of Allahabad, Sabha Jeet Singh and registrar general of the HC, Swatantra Singh were presented symbolic laptop computers by the Chief Justice.

''To enhance Judicial productivity, both qualitatively and quantitatively, and to make the justice delivery system affordable, accessible, cost effective, transparent and accountable, this mega project of Rs 854 crore has been launched,'' Chairman of the steering committee, Justice Yatindra Singh said.

According to the project, almost all the judicial officers of the country would be provided laptops. Besides, all the district courts would be connected with the respective High Court and High Courts would be connected with the Supreme Court.

The project would be implemented in three phases.

Initially, a fund of Rs 442 crores has been sanctioned, which was launched yesterday, simultaneously in six High Courts of -- Allahabad, Mumbai, Madras, Sri Nagar, Guwahati and Kolkota.

Justice Yatindra Singh said the website of the court has many unique features that are provided for the first time on any courts website. It will provide general information like cause list, judgements and other information that are available in any court's website.

The web diary will keep a record of the day wise happenings, in the light of Right to Information Act and would bring complete transparency.

''The website contains list of advocates, addresses, telephone numbers, chamber numbers and other details. It also contains names of the advocates for different corporations to facilitate service of notice. Judicial officers and court staff would be given technical training,'' he added.

The website contains information about the court's Judges, both present and past, subordinate, district court of UP, including information about the outline courts, judicial officers, administrative set-up, cause lists (daily list, advance list, fresh list, unlisted), backlog fresh, and supplementary fresh.

The web diary contains information about the holidays, important events, meetings, notifications for appearance in the court.
