Former MSEDCL employee arrested

Nashik, July 10 (UNI) A former employee of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), arrested here yesterday for power theft, was today remanded to judicial custody till July 23.

Police said the employee, identified as Sultan Qasim Sayyed, was found guilty of electricity theft during the massive drive undertaken by the MSEDCL on June 21.

A case has been registered under sections 135, 138 of the Electricity Act 2003.

Sayyed was arrested yesterday and produced before local Sessions court today, which remanded him to judicial custody till July 23.

Sayyed has also been accused of attacking a team of MSEDEL employees on June 21. The team was led by Deputy Executive Engineer D V Waghmare. Two of the employees had been injured in the attack.
