Srinagar, July 10 (UNI) A fierce clash was going on between two militants holed up in a house and security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said.

He said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and 62 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation at Paderpora in Pulwama district following a tip off that some militants were hiding there.

As the security forces were sealing the area, a group of militants opened fire from the house. Security forces immediately tightened the cordon around the house and rescued all the civilians present in nearby houses.

A fierce clash was going on after militants, reportedly belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), refused to surrender.

The operation was going on, he added.
