Diamonds' auction in MP

Panna, MP, July 10 (UNI) As many as 276 diamonds totally weighing more than 188 carat and found in this district are being auctioned during a four-day exercise here by the Madhya Pradesh government's Minerals Department.

Representatives of major Indian traders are making a beeline for the auction where the cynosure of all eyes is the largest gem weighing 15 carat and worth lakhs of rupees. ''Diamonds are auctioned every January, April, July and October,'' diamonds official J K Solanki said today.

The Baghin riverbed is famed for yielding such gems.
