BJP to create awareness on caste-based reservations

Hyderabad, Jul 10 (UNI) BJP Andhra Pradesh Unit president Bandaru Dattatreya today said the party would create awareness among the people on the implications of the caste-based reservations for Muslims and Telangana issue.

Addressing a press conference along with National Executive member K Haribabu here, he said the state party would take up 'Lokshakti Abhiyan' programme in which the leaders would visit all the Mandals in the state and create awareness among the people about the implications of the government's decision to provide four per cent reservations to Muslims. The party office-bearers in a meeting here yesterday took a decision in this regard, he added.

Mr Dattatreya said party leaders and workers would also visit every village and inform the people about the delay in the formation of separate Telangana. They would apprise the people about the benefits of a separate statehood for Telangana, he added.

The BJP leader said in the first phase, 250 mandals would be covered from July 20 to August 10 while 350 mandals would be covered in the second phase from August 15 to 30. In the last phase, the remaining mandals would be covered, he added.

He said necessary steps would be taken to strengthen the party from the grassroot level during the three-month programme.
