16-member US educators to visit Kolkata

Kolkata, Jul 10 (UNI) A group of 16 US school educators will visit the city tomorrow to study the curriculum development in high schools.

According to a release issued by the American Centre here, the group would be in the city till 15th of this month.

They would participate in a panel discussion on development of school curriculum at the American Center tomorrow, the release stated.

The American teachers would also interact with a few students and officials of the Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search programme.

On July 12, the delegation would visit the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum followed by a visit to Sishu Bikash Academy, a minority institution in Sonarpur on the southeastern outskirts of the city.

They would also meet some NGOs before leaving for Bhubaneswar on July 15, the release added.

The delegation, drawn from various educational institutions across the US, had been traveling in India from June 29 and would remain till August 2.

Under the aegis of the US Department of Education's Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program, the delegation would conduct a programme -- ''Best Practices- What US Educators can learn from India''.

India has become the hottest destination for the global investors and many American business and technology firms are looking to find new talent from the country.

Each of the members of the programme would pair with an Indian counterpart to create and implement the curriculum projects.
