Una, July 9: Residents of a village in Una district of Himachal Pradesh killed a massive 13-feet python that had attacked a 12-year-old boy, police sources said today.

The python attacked Gurmeet Singh, who was accompanying his parents to the nearby ground to graze their cattle in Peer Badh village, about 55 km from here. The boy, however, escaped since the snake already had a bulging belly and could not move swiftly.

The sources said while the boy's mother fainted on seeing it, his father called for help following which the residents rushed to the place and killed the python.

Within minutes, a deer cub slipped out of the dead python's jaws, they said, adding that hundreds of curious onlookers had gathered to see the reptile.

The residents later buried both the animals.
