LG meets Delhi Transport Minister on bluelines
New Delhi, July 9: Concerned over the series of accidents over the last week involving blueline buses, Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna today summoned Transport Minister Haroon Yousuf to discuss the issue.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, which was also attended by the state Transport Commissioner and the Delhi Chief Secretary, Mr Yousuf said henceforth all the drivers of bluelines buses would have to compulsorily undergo a 15 day training.
Further, all operators of blueline buses would have to obtain fresh authorisation before bringing them on the roads.
Mr Yousuf said the state Government was committed to its resolve of completely phasing out all the blueline buses from the city's roads.
However, these operators had the option of switching over to the KM scheme, a system which was in vogue a few years ago.
The meeting was called in wake of a series of accidents involving blueline buses over the past one week.
In fact, even after the state Government undertook several measures to check the menace, including cancelling permits of 600 buses and setting up a committee to look into the causes of increase in the number of accidents involving these buses, the accidents have continued.
Accidents involving bluelines buses have claimed two lives and left one injured in the past two days.
