'K'taka to upgrade facilities to combat militancy'
Bangalore, July 9: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy today said that necessary action will be taken to upgrade facilities to combat the militant activities in the State.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that the state government will soon take all necessary action to protect the brand image of Bangalore by keeping a complete check on the terrorist activities. Mr Kumaraswamy said that he has convened a special meeting of the Home and Finance departments tomorrow to discuss the issue.
He said that the Home Department has sent proposals for modernisation of facilities available to fight terrorist activities and he would soon take decision in consultation with the Finance department in granting funds needed.
To a question on global media projecting the city as a centre of outsourcing for terrorist activities once known for IT activities, he said that the state government was very much concerned about it and would take all necessary actions to protect the brand image of the City.
He said that it was a sad thing that educated youth were being attracted to terrorism.
To another question, Mr Kumaraswamy declined to disclose any information on Bangaloreans held in connection with Glasgow Airport blast attempt. "It was not proper to divulge any information now as the government was getting information from various quarters," he added.
