Journalists depose before Court on 'boy surgeon case'

Tiruchirapalli, July 9 (UNI) Two journalists today deposed before the Judicial Magistrate Court here in connection with the controversial ''Boy Surgeon'' case.

The Journalists--Shanawaz Khan of Headlines Today and Shanmughanathan of Kumudham--gave their depositions before Judicial Magistrate John Vino about the telephonic interview conducted with Dr K Murugesan, the father of boy surgeon M Dhileepan Raj.

In an interview with Mr Shanmughanathan, Dr Murugesan reportedly claimed that his 16-year-old son had performed the caesarean section on a woman in order to create a Guinness World Record.

Later, the recorded version of the interview was aired in the Headlines Today.

The recorded version of the telephonic interview was considered as an important evidence in the case.

Earlier, six members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manapparai Branch, who had reportedly witnessed the video recording of the surgery, gave their deposition before the court on July 5.
