Ivanov resigns as Russian Security Council Secretary
Moscow, July 9 (UNI) Russia's Security Council's secretary Igor Ivanov has tendered his resignation to President Vladimir Putin who is the chairman of the Security Council.
''Several months ago Ivanov announced his resignation plans.
He tendered his resignation two weeks ago,'' an anonymous source told Russian news agencies today.
Putin may accept his resignation by the end of this week.
Ivanov did not want to remain a civil servant. He wanted to engage in scientific and educational activity, the source added.
Ivanov's resignation was not connected with ''politics'' and ''no change in the structure of the Security Council'' was expected.
