New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) Buoyed over the High Court's 'indictment' of the Sheila Dikshit government in the Rs 12,500 crore Delhi Vidyut Board scam, the BJP today sought the resignation of the Chief Minister saying the government had been labelled corrupt and terming its policy directives ''illegal''.

If Ms Dikshit does not resign the Lt Governor should write to the Home Minister to ''relieve'' the Chief Minister of her post, as the Delhi Chief Minister is nominated by the Home Minister, Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi told mediapersons.

''Despite the Public Accounts Committee having recommended probing of the case by the CBI, along with the role of government officials involved in privatisation being sent to the Central Vigilance Commission for investigation, nothing has been done.'' Besides this, the Action Taken Report which was tabled before the Assembly, and passed by it unanimously, had not been implemented, forcing the court to issue directions seeking reasons for not implementing the PAC report, he said.

''This has put the government in the dock and put a question mark on its functioning where established democratic norms were being destroyed.'' Alleging that soon after the BJP brought the scam to light, it was the CAG which first pointed to irregularities to the tune of Rs 8000 crore in privatisation of power, then the Reserve Bank questioned the deal during its mid-term appraisal process, followed by the Lok Sabha committee raising questions on the issue, and then the PAC indicted the Delhi government on it, Dr Mukhi said the July 2 High Court order had vindicated his party's stand.

Mr Mukhi also said he had met the Lt Governor on the issue a couple of days back who ''took it seriously''.

''We demand that the Speaker call the House session at the earliest to implement the High Court's orders and ask the government to submit the Action Taken Report in this regard,'' Mr Mukhi said.
