HC rejects PIL challenging budgetary allocation
Lucknow, July 9 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today rejected a PIL challenging the allocation of crores of rupees proposed for Ambedkar Park in the 2007-2008 budget.
A two member bench comprising Justices Sanjay Misha and Sudhir Agarwal passed the order on a PIL filed by former DSP Shailendra Singh.
Besides, the High Court imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on Mr Singh.
The ex DSP had claimed that the Mayawati government had proposed Rs 322 crore for Dr Bheemrao Ambedkar Memorial and Museum, while Rs 44 crore was proposed for Ambedkar Park in the 2007-2008 budget.
The petitioner accused the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)-led Uttar Pradesh regime of ''misutilising'' the government funds, which ought to be used for providing medical help to people suffering from serious ailments.
