Fernandes seeks support for Pratibha Patil

Itanagar, Jul 09 (UNI) All India Congress Committee general secretary Oscar Fernandes today urged all the political parties to support UPA candidate Pratibha Patil in the coming presidential election.

Mr Fernandes, who was here today on a visit, made a fervent appeal to all the MLAs to support Ms Patil to ensure her victory as the first woman candidate for the highest post in the country after independence, party sources said.

Addressing a meeting, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu also made the similar appeal in support of Ms Patil.

The meeting was attended by state Congress Committee president Omem Moyang Deori and the MLAs.

In all 59 MLAs of total 60 had assured their cooperation and support for the UPA sponsored candidate, sources added.
