Blueline driver gets two-year RI for crushing man to death

New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a Blueline bus driver to two years' rigorous imprisonment for trampling to death a person ten years ago and asked him to pay Rs 75,000 to next of kin of the victim.

The incident had occurred on October 22, 1997 when the bus ran over one Shaukat Ali on the Jawaharlal Nehru road near Delhi Gate in Central Delhi.

Using his discretionary powers, Metropolitan Magistrate Anil Kumar Shishodia asked the driver to pay Rs 75,000 to the victim's family, failing which he ordered that his property be attached.
