BJP demands immediate statehood for Telangana
Hyderabad, July 9 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today asked the Centre to accord separate statehood for Telangana as desired by the people of the region.
Talking to mediapersons here, BJP National Spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said talks were going on about the constitution of the Second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) on Telangana issue.
The formation of the second SRC was a part of delaying tactics method adopted by the Centre, he alleged.
He said the Centre could accord statehood for Telangana by passing a simple resolution in the Lok Sabha and no recommendations were needed for it.
The BJP was committed to separate statehood for Telangana and honour the sentiments of the people of the region, he said.
