A seven-day state mourning declared in Punjab, Haryana, UT

Chandigarh, Jul 9 (UNI) A seven-day state mourning has been declared in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh Union Territory till July 14 as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar who breathed his last in New Delhi yesterday.

The national flag will be flown at half mast on all buildings, where it is flown regularly, in the twin states and the union territory.

Also, there will be no official entertainment during the period of state mourning from July 8 to 14, official spokesmen said.

The Punjab Government today declared a holiday in all its offices, educational institutions and corporation and board offices in the state as a mark of respect to the late leader.

The Haryana Government, too, decided to close all its offices and those of Boards and Corporations throughout the state at 1330 hours today as a mark of respect.
