Two-day mourning in UP

Lucknow, July 8 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has announced two-day mourning in the state as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar, who passed away today.

Besides, various political and social organisations have expressed deep sorrow on the death of the octogenerian leader.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati termed the former Prime Minister's death as a ''loss to the Indian politics.' Ms Mayawati added, ''he was a fearless leader, who never compromised with his principles. He worked for the welfare of nation and the common man.'' UNI
