Four children drown in pond

Kolar Gold Fields, July 8 (UNI) Four children of a family, including three girls, drowned in a pond at D Bosahalli in Sidalghatta taluk, near here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when they went to the pond for taking bath.

While Chandana (10) slipped and fell into the water, Shalini (12), Bindu (12) and Sharat (8) jumped into the pond to rescue her.

All of them met a watery grave. However, Suma and Ashwini, two other friends who were in the team, swam to safety.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem, police added.
