Uma Bharti holds demo on Sethu Project
Tiruchirapalli, July 7 (UNI) More than 100 volunteers of the Bharatiya Janashakti Party, led by President Uma Bharti, staged a demonstration against the Sethu Samuthram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP) at Chinthamani Area of the city this evening.
The agitators shouted slogans against the Union Government for ''taking up the project against the wishes of Hindu community.'' They urged the government not to demolish the Adams Bridge (Ramar Sethu) on the pretext of implementing the SSCP.
Ms Bharti appealed to the government to implement the project, taking an alternative path instead of demolishing the Adams Bridge.
