Two lashkar militant gunned down in Surankote
Jammu, July 7 (UNI) Two hardcore Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed and another wounded in an encounter with the army at Surankote in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.
Acting on a specific information, about the presence of three hardcore lashkar militants, the troops of 15 and 25 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched an operation at Dadhiya in Babilyaj forest of Surankote this afternoon at 1300 hrs, army sources said adding that during operation fierce encouter took place.
During 4-hour-long operation, two militants were eliminated while third militant, who got serious wounds, was managed to escape from the site, sources said.
Only one body was recovered so far and slain militant was identified as Abu Zarrar, sources said, adding the search operation to nab wounded militant and recovered the body of another militant was still continued.
One AK 47 rifle and some arm and ammunition were recovered from possession of the slain militant, sources added.
