Spanish woman unmasks attacker to reveal husband

MADRID, July 7 (Reuters) A Spanish woman who pulled the mask off a man as he tried to strangle her was astonished to discover the attacker was her estranged husband, Spanish media reported.

The woman had thought the masked man, who burst into the bakery where she worked in the city of Valencia, was a robber and she told him to take money from the till.

Instead he started to throttle to her, papers and TV reported yesterday.

She pretended to be dead but he continued to kick her and as she groaned in pain he started trying to strangle her again.

In the ensuing struggle she pulled off his mask to reveal her husband and father of her two children. The couple were in the process of divorce proceedings.

Police arrested the man, El Pais newspaper said.
