Sikh clergy to meet tomorrow
Amritsar, July 7 (UNI) The Sikh clergy will meet at Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhism, here tomorrow to discuss the next course of action in the wake of the Dera Sacha Sauda controversy.
The Akal Takht will also discuss the 'violation' of its edict by some people and is likely to summon Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) chief Paramjit Singh Sarna in this regard.
The Akal Takht had taken strong note of Mr Sarna's role as a 'mediator' between the SGPC and the Dera, and it deemed as violation of its call for social boycott of the sect in the wake of the ''blasphemous act'' by Dera Chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh of imitating Guru Gobind Singh.
Mr Sarna had delivered an apology letter from the Sirsa-based Dera head to SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar who, in turn, handed over the letter to the Akal Takht. The Akal Takht had, however, rejected the letter, describing it as ''a mere a press note than a proper apology''.
The clergy's call for a congegration of the Sikh community at Ratia in Sirsa district of Haryana on July 11 to put pressure on the Haryana government to withdraw the Z-plus security given to the Dera head will also be discussed in the meeting.
