PM to visit Bihar on July 17
Patna, July 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will arrive here on a day's visit on July 17.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told reporters here that Dr Singh would discuss the measures to be taken for giving a boost to the agriculture sector in the region. Agriculture had a vital role in achieving the target of nine percent growth in the state during the 11th five year plan, he added.
''India can not achieve the target of 4.5 percent growth in GDP unless this figure would be 9 percent in Bihar,'' he said, adding it could be possible through massive influx of fund in agriculture sector.
''The Prime Minister will also assess the possibilities of investments from private sectors to tap the potential of agriculture in Bihar,'' Mr Kumar said.
