LeT-TuM module smashed, 8 ultras arrested
Srinagar July 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have foiled a militant plan to carry out a series of grenade blasts here by busting a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Tehreeh-ul-Mujahideen (TuM) module and arresting eight ultras alongwith grenades and other arms and ammunition.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Awantipora, said specific information was received that a group of militants was travelling to Srinagar from Tral in a vehicle.
Later a police team from Tral police station laid a Naka near Batagund crossing and arrested two persons Mushtaq Ahmad Mir and Zahoor Ahmad Dar alongwith two grenades. They were planning to carry out grenade attacks in the city, he said.
The SP said Dar and Mir admitted that they were active members of LeT and TuM and were operating in the Srinagar city and with adjoining areas as well.
Later, on their disclosures police arrested Tariq Ahmad Wani, Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh, Umar Rehman Bhat, Hilal Ahmad Dar.
One AK 47 rifle, two AK Magazines, twenty three rounds of AK ammunition, two Pistol, six pistol magazines, twenty five rounds of pistol and 10 Hand grenades were also recovered.
