Karur Vysya Bank branch looted

Tirupati, July 7 (UNI) In a daring daylight robbery, two armed persons looted nearly Rs ten lakh in cash from the cash counter of the Karur Vysya bank, today.

According to the bank employees, after the bank transactions ended, the unidentified duo, armed with a pistol, a double barrel gun and a knife, gained entry into the bank, threatened one of the employees Mahesh and fled with the cash.

The helmet-wearing robbers, below 30 years of age, were conversing in English and Tamil, they added.

Before fleeing the bank, they left a small red box, creating panic among the employees who suspected it to be a bomb. Police rushed to the spot and pressed sniffer dogs into service. However, no explosive material was found in the box.

Additional Superintendent of Police Seshu said no bomb was found in the red box, abandoned by the robbers.
