Inter-state robbery gang busted

Noida, UP, July 7 (UNI) Eight members of an inter-state robbers gang were arrested today by the Special Operation Group (SOG).

The SOG and Sector 20 police arrested eight members of an inter-state robbers gang in a joint operation after an encounter near Delhi Public School, Sector 30, SSP Gautam Budh Nagar district A Satish Ganesh said.

The police have recovered two country made pistols, six knives, nine mobile phones, nine watches, four motorbikes, gold and silver jewellery from the gang.

The gang has confessed to have committed 80 loots in Delhi and NCR.

The call centre employees and the software professionals working in night-shifts in Gurgaon and Noida were the main targets of the gang police said adding the 50-member gang was operating everyday from midnight to early morning.

Police have arrested gang leader Deepak alias Bittu who hails from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. Deepak has a criminal background and was earlier lodged in the Dasna jail in Ghaziabad in a cycle lifting case.

All the members arrested belong to eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Police are in look out for other members of the gang.
