K'taka: Indian Academy of Science to hold lectures
Bangalore, July 7: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman G Madhavan Nair will deliver the public lecture of the 18th mid-year meeting of the Indian Academy of Sciences on July 13 and 14 here.
Mr Nair would speak on Challenges in Space Exploration:Global Perspectives and Indian Initiatives on July 13 evening. He would be dealing with the future programmes of ISRO inlcuding manned mission and other follow on missions of Chandrayaan-1, the lunar mission.
The event would also have two special lectures with G Sundararajan of the International Advanced Reseach Centre for Powder Mettalurgy and New Materials-Hyderabad speaking on the indentation of materials to probe their mechanical behaviour and Dr E D Jemmis of the Indian Institute of Science on structural chemistry for boron.
Scientists from various parts of the country would also give lectures during the two day meet. They included one on why Bay of Bengal was warmer than the Arabian sea: Role of ocean dynamics to be delviered by S Sateesh Chandra Shenoi of the National Institute of Oceanography.
