DD, PSBT offer film fellowships

New Delhi, July 7: The Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) and Doordarshan have invited proposals for up to 10 film fellowships, instituted to encourage and support excellence in independent filmmaking in the country.

The proposals will be considered by trustees including Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Shyam Benegal, Kiran Karnik, Sharmila Tagore, Rajiv Mehrotra and CEO Prasar Bharati B S Lalli.

The films may be on any subject or theme that best represents the filmmakers' personal passion and concerns.

The PSBT has also invited proposals for films that explore the 'Revisioning of India'. ''These are required to be passionate and nuanced films that will offer new insights and perspective into contemporary and emerging predicament of a new India,'' it said in a release here.

All information relating to the fellowships is available at PSBT website:www.psbt.org.

Over the last five years, PSBT has supported the production of more than 250 films by independent filmmakers. These have won more than 40 awards and been screened by Doordarshan and at more than 300 film festivals across the world.
