Bihar: 2 people drowned as boat capsize

Barh, July 6: Two people drowned when a country boat capsized midstream in the rainfed Ganges near Malahi Chawk ghat here this morning.

The police sources said another person who was also travelling in the boat swam to safety.

However, unofficial sources put the death toll at six.

The incident occurred when the boat while ferrying the passengers from the Malahi Chawk Ghat to the other side of the river was caught in the swirling water midstream before capsizing within minutes, the police sources said.

Meanwhile, efforts were on to trace the bodies of both the victims that are believed to be washed away in the downstream of the river, the sources added.
